Understand My Medicare

About Understand My Medicare

Why This Site Exists

Most Medicare websites are trying to sell you something. They bury the information you need behind lead forms and phone calls. We built Understand My Medicare because we think people deserve clear answers first.

My name is Matt Ragudo. I’m a licensed Medicare insurance agent with a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) designation and a Certification in Long-Term Care (CLTC). Those credentials matter because Medicare decisions don’t exist in a vacuum. They’re part of your retirement, your healthcare, and your financial plan.

How I Work

I start with education. Most people who call me just need someone to explain their options clearly. No jargon, no pressure, no “limited time offer.” If your situation is straightforward, I’ll tell you that and point you in the right direction.

If your situation is more complex (medications, IRMAA, employer coverage transitions, long-term care considerations), I offer paid analysis services. You’ll know exactly what you’re paying for before we start.

What I Don’t Do

I don’t do high-pressure sales calls. I don’t have “enrollment specialists” calling you back. I don’t pretend that one plan type is always better than another. Medicare is personal. The right answer depends on your health, your finances, your medications, and your preferences.

The Local Connection

I also run Medicare 808, a Hawaii-focused Medicare resource covering local union retiree benefits (EUTF, HGEA, UPW, HSTA, and more). If you’re a Hawaii resident, that site has state-specific guidance that this national site doesn’t cover.
